Creating the next big thing at Luni

In 2023, I got to participate in Luni’s annual hackathon. I was assigned to a group of five, consisting of myself (as copywriter), a front-end developer, back-end developer, user acquisition manager, and a product designer. We had two days to fulfill the briefing: design a functional prototype and present the concept to the larger team.

At the time of the hackathon, Luni had mental health, sexual health, and physical health covered, but hadn’t yet developed a brand around environmental health.

So, that’s the area we decided to explore, especially because environmental health is a huge topic of interest for Gen-Z, who comprise the majority of social app subscribers.

After deciding upon our topic, we analyzed the current market, brainstormed ideas for how our app Atmosphere could help solve the problem of climate change in new, creative ways, and mapped out our ideas.

small steps every day

Given that large-scale change requires large-scale involvement of many communities, we decided to make our app a social one.

Bring fun & rewarding challenges into your social sphere 🌎

The app would deliver small, daily challenges that users can invite their friends to complete with them for extra points. And every week, there would be one big action users could complete to result in mega points. Our primary goal was to test and see if this value prop would be enough to retain users, and therefore, facilitate positive environmental change.
